Support at Home funding for equipment

Support at Home is the Australian Government’s in-home aged care program. It replaced Home Care Packages from 1 November 2025. It includes separate funding for equipment and home changes, so you don’t have to save from your ongoing budget to get them.

The Assistive Technology and Home Modifications scheme

Equipment is funded through the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) scheme. You’re assessed for it as part of your aged care assessment, and your tier is shown in your Notice of Decision.

  • Low tier: under $500
  • Medium tier: up to $2,000
  • High tier: up to $15,000, with more available for some needs

Equipment covered includes walking frames, wheelchairs, shower chairs, commodes and similar items. Funding generally needs to be used within 12 months.

Step by step

  1. Get assessed. Contact My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 to arrange an aged care assessment.
  2. Get a prescription if needed. More complex items need a prescription from an occupational therapist or physio. The government covers this, so you won’t be charged for it.
  3. Talk to your provider. Your Support at Home provider manages your funding and orders equipment for you. Let them know you’d like to work with Regency Care.
  4. See it before you commit. Book a time to meet one of the team so you can see the options and ask questions.
  5. Delivery and set-up. We deliver, set up and show you how to use your equipment safely.

Common questions

Will I pay anything?

You may contribute part of the cost of equipment, depending on your income and assets assessment. Prescriptions and help to use the equipment are fully funded.

I was on a Home Care Package. What changes?

You don’t need a new assessment, but any unspent Home Care Package funds are used first before AT-HM funding.

Can repairs be funded?

Yes. Repairs and maintenance come from your AT-HM funding. Our technicians service and repair what we supply.
